a kernel-linus update to match all the security updates in core kernel including the root exploit.

mga7, x86_64
Alienware X51

Installed the seven packages and rebooted. Various kmods rebuilt including nvidia390, went through a couple of loops before presenting login with the nouveau driver.

Intel Core i7-2600
NVIDIA GF114 [GeForce GTX 555]
Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter driver: ath9k

NFS shares mounted, virtualbox launching clients, Mate desktop running smoothly.
Stress tests and 2D graphics running OK.

Installed all packages on Skylake Intel Core i9-7900X system.
Rebooted without any problems - nvidia, virtualbox and xtables-addons drivers rebuilt - X display driver switch to nouveau handled transparently.

glmark2 and other basic tests all ran fine and the desktop continues to work without issues.

Intel Core i7-4790, NVIDIA GM204 [GeForce GTX 970],
Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet driver: r8169

Ouch! That did not go well at all. At reboot the nvidia-current driver was rebuilt and then the system hung forever.
CtlAltDel rebooted the machine and the nvidia-current driver was rebuilt resulting in another hangup. Logged in to a virtual console, 'su -' then XFdrake.
Chose the nouveau driver and restarted. That booted successfully to the desktop, which is running normally.
