Description Jerome Quelin 2020-04-02 16:42:34 CEST
Some non-standard fonts (eg, Lora from Google) are displayed all squashed in horizontally.

How reproducible: every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Lora
2. see the attached snapshot

Not universally true. Thanking you for the URL, see this attached 'good' screenshot. This was obtained using IceApe browser under LXDE, size chosen on page 24px.

We need more information, please:
* A brief description of your system.
* To describe the graphics resources, please do:
 $ lspci -v
and post here *just* the video section of the output, normally "VGA compatible controller".
* What desktop are you using, Plasma or whatever?
* It seems you are using 'chromium-browser-stable'. Please try a different browser Firefox|IceApe|Falkon|Epiphany (Web).
* This browser is currently at 'chromium-browser-stable-80.0.3987.149-1.mga7'
Is yours up-to-date?
* Does the problem happen with other applications like word processing?
* If you have another desktop, does it happen with that?
> This also happens on other sites with other fonts (Ruda, etc.)
Please give (an)other example URL(s).

Thank you for the extra information.
So it looks like a 'chromium' browser problem, hence assigning to Christiaan as the SRPM maintainer.

workaround: in KDE settings => fonts, set hinting to "none", then restart the browser

Hi bug reporter and hi assignee and others involved,

Please reopen this bug report if it is still valid for Mageia 8 or 9(cauldron), and change "Version:" in the upper left of this report accordingly.

This report is being closed as OLD because it was filed against Mageia 7, for which support ended on June 30th 2021.

Thanks,
Marja
