Suggested advisory : Some recent sound devices use the SOF open source firmware. SOF was included in alsa-firmware mageia packages to enable use of this hardware with MGA7. Ref: https://www.sofproject.org/ SRPM: alsa-firmware-1.2.1-1.mga7.srpm RPM: alsa-firmware-1.2.1-1.mga7.noarch.rpm CC:

lists.jjorge I have tested this package in an HP 820 G6 laptop, it enabled sound! Putting this on hold, the firmwares need to be shipped separately in nonfree CC:

tmb Switched the binaries to nonfree, and maintained the alsa-firmware upgrade as this may also enable hardware unknown by me : SRPM: alsa-firmware-1.2.1-2.mga7.srpm alsa-sof-firmware-1.4.2-1.mga7.srpm RPM: alsa-firmware-1.2.1-2.mga7.noarch.rpm alsa-sof-firmware-1.4.2-1.mga7.noarch.rpm Keywords:

(none) When trying to get the updates in QARepo I get error: alsa-sof-firmware-1.4.2-1.mga7.noarch.rpm not found in the remote repository. CC:

herman.viaene @Herman, comment 5: Yes, I found this a bit confusing. Both updates-testing and nonfree updates testing have to be enabled. Then it seems to work OK. Leaving the stage at this point. CC:

tarazed25 I have nonfree and tainted ticked on in QARepo, but there seems to be some problem with repos here and France. (In reply to Herman Viaene from comment #7) > I have nonfree and tainted ticked on in QARepo, but there seems to be some > problem with repos here and France. Sorry, I have fixed a conflict and forgot to update this bug. The sof package is now -2. SRPM: alsa-firmware-1.2.1-2.mga7.srpm alsa-sof-firmware-1.4.2-2.mga7.srpm RPM: alsa-firmware-1.2.1-2.mga7.noarch.rpm alsa-sof-firmware-1.4.2-2.mga7.noarch.rpm MGA7-64 Plasma on Lenovo B50 Broadwell-U Audio Controller No installation issues Sound OK after installation and again after reboot. Sending this on its way, on the basis of Comment 2 and Comment 9. Advisory information in Comment 1. Keywords:
