Hi,

Did you upgrade from version 68.5.0 or from a previous one?

When Thunderbird is not launched, can you try "thunderbird --profilemanager" to see if Thunderbird did not create a new profile and set it as the default one. In that case, you have to set your previous profile as the default one, quit, and launch again Thunderbird.

Best regards,

Nico.

Hi,

I had the same problem on one of the teams. It seems that because of some problem with the previous profile (maybe because of compatibility), Thunderbird creates a new profile and assigns it as default.

The best thing to do in this case is to leave the new profile and copy the "mail" folder of the old profile (in case its setting is POP3), or to reconfigure the mail accounts in the new profile in case it is IMAP.

I tried what is discussed in comment 2 and the thunderbird folder view is corrupted, which makes me suspect that it is a problem between versions of Thunderbird and not Mageia (this did not happen on all updated computers).

Greetings!!

It is not the problem of empty profile. I'm using profiles on daily use so every time I'm choosing proper profile. I'm using 2 - both shows empty canvas but I can display and edit accounts (all data are OK), address books and everything from menu. - it's just the problem in displaying the canvas. And I can confirm that this problem is not on all computers - on my laptop everything is OK

Prior to Mageia-7, both Firefox and Thunderbird were happy to always automatically pick up my one and only 'profile', by default.
Then - with Mageia-7 and now Cauldron - they were not, and much head-scratching took place.

In my opinion both Firefox and Thunderbird should have continued to automatically use the existing user profile, leaving those with multiple profiles to use the above quoted "--profilemanager" option to organise those profiles.

In this way newcomers to Mageia would not be deterred by the complexity of multiple profiles Mozilla introduced from Mageia-7 onwards.

Hi,

I have to say that this decision does not come from Mageia but from upstream starting with version 68.

Best regards,

Nico.

I realised that, but was hoping the observation might somehow get reported 'upstream', as well as (possibly) becoming a Mageia workround (e.g. 'FF/TB defaulting to result equivalent to ...--profilemanager --> 'default'...).
Then those using multiple profiles could take it from there to suit themselves.

[It's no problem for me. I was just thinking of those who are perhaps new to Mageia or indeed any Linux...]

Can't reproduce this inside M7, Cauldron and even a M7 32 bits on a VM.

Closing this.
