Description Kristoffer Grundström 2020-01-03 13:18:45 CET
Description of problem: I installed Blender together with openshot and kdenlive and as I opened Blender I see that the gui has another resolution than the screen itself.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.79b

How reproducible: All the time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install blender.
2. Open blender.
3. Text and buttons are much smaller in the gui in comparison to the screen resolution.

Just installed it to try, Mate, screen resolution 1366 x 768.
On first launch, everything is grey & gloomy with small writing. Explored:
 File-User Preferences-Interface-Display Scale
initially 1; 1.3 made everything bigger! (Do *not* reduce it, it will become too small to see to re-set!).
 File-User Preferences-Interface-Themes
allows to install something lighter.

Does this answer your complaint?

Installed to try this
Looking nice here on Plasma, nvidia-current, 3840x2160
But also, this screen is 43" large; Philips 436M6

Text in menus etc are smaller than in other programs but i think that is adequate.

Screenshot is from left part of window in original laounch size, which in turn is less than a quarter of the screen area.

Sure, but shouldn't this be set a bit bigger as standard?
It would help in the future.

This sort of thing is difficult to judge, because so much depends on screen resolution & size. Pre-setting the scale to something other than 1 would be dicey. The important thing is that the application is usable.
Morgan's screenshot is OK.
Given that the font size can be increased so easily, and to one's taste, I think it is fair to close the bug.

CC'ing for info DavidG who maintains this pkg. For a comment perhaps.

I suggest to discuss that upstream. (And if so, for 2.80+)
I believe design have been debated much there and a democratic (i suppose) agreement between many users there should not be overthrown by three less experienced people here.

- It is a another thing if you can show the program being displayed substantially different on Mageia, than intended by upstream.
