Mageia7, x86_64 Updated all the packages. 'whatrequires-recursive mesa...' turns up 7179 unique entries, so pretty much everything. Tried some of the mesa-demos, like bounce, gamma, isosurf, reflect and gears. A trace does not show a lot of evidence for mesa libraries but drm turns up frequently. Cinnamon and Xfce seem to rely on mesa also. Logged in to Xfce then Plasma and back to Mate. All in order. Whiteboard:

25625 Mageia7, x86_64, nvidia GTX970 Updated the mesa stack (31 packages). Mate desktop running fine but the way to test this update is to perform an upgrade from mga6 to mga7. Later unless somebody else confirms the correction via an upgrade. Re comment 4; Maybe not, actually. A non sequitur as far as mesa goes. Installed alsaplayer and some associated packages and used the gui to create an ogg playlist and select tracks. Ran it under strace but could find no sign of mesa. $ urpmq --whatrequires mesa lib64dri-drivers mesa $ urpmq --whatrequires-recursive mesa | grep alsa alsa-tools alsamixergui alsaplayer alsaplayer-plugin-input-flac alsaplayer-plugin-input-mad alsaplayer-plugin-input-mod alsaplayer-plugin-input-sndfile alsaplayer-plugin-input-vorbis alsaplayer-plugin-output-jack alsaplayer-plugin-scopes alsaplayer-plugin-ui-gtk cairo-dock-alsamixer gnome-alsamixer lib64alsa-plugins lib64alsa-plugins-a52 Others of hundreds of applications which appear in the requires-recursive list are blender, caja, celestia and calibre all of which run fine. Affirming the 64-bit OK.
