on mga7-64 kernel-desktop plasma packages installed cleanly: - virtualbox-6.0.12-1.mga7.x86_64 - virtualbox-kernel-5.2.16-desktop-2.mga7-6.0.12-1.mga7.x86_64 - virtualbox-kernel-desktop-latest-6.0.12-1.mga7.x86_64 # dkms status virtualbox, 6.0.12-1.mga7, 5.2.16-desktop-2.mga7, x86_64: installed-binary from 5.2.16-desktop-2.mga7 extension pack upgraded cleanly vbox and clients (winxp, win7 and mga7-32) launched normally Updated additions in all 3 clients. As usual the download of the additions iso failed part way. I had to download and insert the iso manually. looks OK for mga7-64 on this system: Desktop System: Dell product: Precision Tower 3620 Quad Core model: Intel Core i7-6700 Intel HD Graphics 530 CC:

25517 System: Host: canopus Kernel: 5.2.16-desktop-2.mga7 x86_64 bits: 64 CPU: 10-Core: Intel Core i9-7900X type: MT MCP speed: 1200 MHz Machine: Type: Desktop Mobo: ASUSTeK model: TUF X299 MARK 2 v: Rev 1.xx Graphics Device-1: NVIDIA GP102 [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti] driver: nouveau v: kernel The packages installed fine but on reboot nvidia proprietary driver was replaced by nouveau. virtualbox launched a Mageia client OK. Ran drakx11 to install proprietary driver but it was rejected at boot time. back to nouveau. CC:

tarazed25 Kernel development files missing. Installed them and rebooted. Various modules rebuilt but no nvidia. Reinstalled dkms-nvidia-current and rebooted. dracut came up with a lot of errors but looked like it succeeded in building a new initrd. Rebooting. Still no nvidia proprietary driver. Back to drakx11 and a reboot. OK now. The moral is make sure you are on a level playing field before starting. The resident kernel was 5.2.13 but the virtualbox update dragged in the later kernel, without devel support. The update looks good from here.
