@Mathus: can you please say what is the 'previous' kernel that works.
Under Mageia 6, is this real hardware?
Please be more specific about your Intel graphics hardware.
> Temporary workaround: Select previous kernel in grub and use this one
This does suggest a kernel problem, so assigning it appropriately.Assignee:

kernel Previous kernel was / is 4.14.137-server-1.mga6. This is real hardware. After that, I uninstalled all *kernel*4.18.20* stuff, ran update-grub and the machine runs again flawlessly. Hi, thanks for reporting this bug. We are sorry, but we no longer maintains this version of Mageia. Please upgrade to the latest version and reopen this bug against that version if this bug exists there. As a result we are setting this bug to CLOSED:OLD Resolution:

Description of problem: An update was started today, installing kernel-server-4.18.20-1.mga6-1-1.mga6.i586 After rebooting, grub appears and after that there is nothing but a black screen, not even kernel messages. Though, the machine does not crash completely, since numlock still works. Tested on FSC Lifebook 8310 with intel graphics, hence kernel module i915. B.t.w.: After updating MGA7 as virtual machine on a MGA6 hardware box this also occurred. So, it seems that MGA7 is also affected. Temporary workaround: Select previous kernel in grub and use this one. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel 4.18.20 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Do the update to mentioned kernel 2. Reboot as demanded 3.
