Description Oleg Bosis 2019-07-09 21:45:21 CEST
Description of problem:

After upgrading MGA6 to MGA7 I can not use schroot without root privileges any more. Trying to use command

schroot -c mga7

I see the following error message:

E: mga7_64-PzhlOW-13304: Failed to lock chroot: /var/lib/schroot/session/mga7_64-PzhlOW-13304: Failed to write session file: Permission denied

(here mga7 is an alias for mga7_64 chroot environment I use).

I've compared MGA7 schroot package with MGA6 one and found that the reason for the problem is that the main executable file /usr/bin/schroot doesn't have SUID bit installed any more. If I install this bit then I can use schroot normally.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
schroot-1.7.2-12.mga7

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. try to use schroot as unprivileged user
2.
3.

Mageia 7 is EOL since July 1st 2021.
There will not have any further bugfix for this release.

You are encouraged to upgrade to Mageia 8 as soon as possible.

@reporter, if this bug still apply with Mageia 8, please let us know it.

@packager, if you work on the Mageia 7 version of your package, please check the Mageia 8 package if issue is also present. In this case, please fix the Mageia 8 version instead.

This bug report will be closed OLD if there is no further notice within 1st September 2021.
