It seems upstream is rather dead, so there won't be updates (unless someone decides to revive or fork the project), but maybe these instructions work: https://blog.sleeplessbeastie.eu/2015/10/26/how-to-add-new-device-to-hddtemp-database/ If it works, then please attach your patch to this bug report, so that we can add it when building a new release of hddtemp. Thanks :-) CC:

geiger.david68210, marja11 Btw, you filed this report against Mageia 7, but still use the Mga 6 package In Mageia 7 we have: hddtemp-0.3-0.beta15.23.mga7 Hi all,
this line works for Samsung EVO / SSD drives:
<hddtemp.db>
"Samsung SSD 840 Series" 190 C "Samsung SSD 840 Series"
</hddtemp.db>
So I get:
$ hddtemp
/dev/sda: Samsung SSD 840 Series: 33°C
Thanks for adding!
B.t.w., in addition to adding infos like this "standalone" for MGA only, shouldn't we try to do this centralized for all Linux distros?
(In reply to Markus Robert Keßler from comment #3) > this line works for Samsung EVO / SSD drives: Added to release 24 in cauldron. As this is a small bug, I'd like not annoying Q/A team with a MGA7 update.... > B.t.w., in addition to adding infos like this "standalone" for MGA only, > shouldn't we try to do this centralized for all Linux distros? Of course. Feel free to create a centralized git for that. Status:
