Description Artem Kurashov 2019-04-24 13:29:48 CEST
Is it possible to add support for 32-bit UEFI in the x86_64 version of installer?

There are some laptops (for example - Irbis NB43) with 32-bit UEFI support only. These laptops do not support either the CSM boot mode or the boot via grubx64.efi, but support boot via grubia32.efi, which also can boot x86_64 systems.

Of course, these laptops have 64-bit Intel Atom CPUs (Bay Trail).

AFAIK this already should work on the current beta3 isos

I have checked it now. Yes, it works. I'm sorry for troubling.

Do I take it that our 64-bit ISOs now support EFI systems with 32-bit firmware? That would be wonderful. Is it in Release Notes? As Artem says, these wretched things do exist; it would be a Mageia '+'.
I begged a 'special' for Mageia 6 Xfce for an ASUS x205. It was a small fiddle, and worked a treat; although I cannot remember whether it was a 64-bit system adapted for 32-bit EFI, or an adapted 32-bit system (which did not work out-of-the-box for Grub2 installation).
