Switched to Xfce and updated the weather plugin.
Enabled it by right-clicking on the top panel -> Panel -> Panel Preferences -> Items -> Weather update -> +
It appears in the panel and cycles through temperature, wind direction and wind speed. It accurately selected my city (Edinburgh, Scotland). Tried changing the location through right click -> Properties and specifying Glasgow, which succeeded. Reverted to Edinburgh. Hovering over the icon displays more detailed information. The sun rise and set times agreed with those derived from my own calendar application.

Working fine for 64-bits.

Installed cleanly in 32-bit Xfce. I'm not much of an Xfce user, so it took me a while to learn how to add and activate it, but once I understood it was easy.

It didn't correctly determine my location, but after entering the name of my small town manually the correct coordinates were reported. Forecast agrees with the National Weather Service forecast for this location, so is as good as any.

Looks good for 32-bits. Validating. Still needs advisory information.
