Ran stress tests. Common desktop applications working including LO writer, wifi printing, caja, firefox, thunderbird, image viewers, virtualbox, terminal, ssh login over the LAN. tarazed25 mga6, x86_64, Mate Skylake Intel Core i9-7900X (-HT-MCP-) NVIDIA GP102 [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti] 390.87 RAM 32GB Updated all relevant desktop packages. Rebooted to Mate desktop. firefox up and running. Everything else running as normal. Scheduled updates. stress tests. NFS shares mounted already. LO writer OK - printed text file to wifi printer. Checked printer status and ink levels using hp-toolbox. Browsed a few TV channels in vlc. Watched a video on the LAN using vlc and NFS - pulseaudio working fine. Used ruby servercheck script to see if beta3 isos were available yet. caja OK - eom for image viewing. Viewed photos and image collections in gqview, gimp, gThumb, ristretto and shotwell. Logged in to another machine on the LAN via ssh. Copied a file to another machine using scp. Astronomical applications worked fine in fullscreen mode. Google Chrome came up OK. Thunderbird works. Booted to working Mate DE. $ uname -r 4.14.106-desktop-1.mga6 Laptop lid functions working as expected. Ran stress tests, graphics and video applications. Wifi, pulseaudio/bluetooth sound all OK. $ sudo mount -a brought up NFS shares. Desktop applications working fine except for celestia and stellarium - both crash after showing the logo (cannot remember if they ever worked - twin gpus with only one in use). mga6, x86_64, legacy boot Alienware X51 Intel Core i7-2600 (-HT-MCP-) NVIDIA GF114 [GeForce GTX 555] 390.87 RAM 8GB Updated desktop kernel packages. Rebooted to Mate desktop with wifi up and NFS shares already mounted. stress tests OK. Desktop running fine. Virtualbox also. Restored a client from a saved session. stellarium crashed - maybe a bug. Apart from that everything works. OK: 64 bit 4.14.106-desktop-1.mga6 running on my workstation, with all updates in testing: i7-2600K, Nvidia GTX760 (GK104) using proprietary driver GeForce 420 and later, with CUDA & OpenCL detected OK in BOINC, / & /home & swap in LVM on LUKS on SSD, Plasma, Thunderbird, LibreOffice6, video in Firefox, VirtualBox running MSW7 incl USB2 flash stick,... Skipped 'drakboot --boot' and rebooted to Mate desktop using the default Mageia entry. $ uname -r 4.14.106-desktop-1.mga6 Network and rfkill authorization requested after login. Ran the usual tests. No regressions noted. virtualbox working fine. Bluetooth connected immediately. Stellarium crashed on this machine as well but celestia worked, probably because it is a local rebuild from some time back. Note that at the time celestia worked in Cauldron. A later version of stellarium is working in Cauldron at present. So, these may be build problems - nothing to do with the kernel. Kstars is working fine. on mga6-64 kernel-desktop plasma

At rebooting, the grub selection was upset, the default (and some of the items in the advanced section) pointing to versions that aren't there anymore. The 106 version was however in the Advanced section, selecting that went OK, then let MCC define the startup, and that restored normal grub selection. After startup, internet connection is OK, tried various files (images, docs, spreadsheet, pdf, txt) all OK. CC:

This kernel update is based on the upstream 4.14.106 and fixes atleast
the following security issue:
In the Linux kernel before 4.20.14, expand_downwards in mm/mmap.c lacks
a check for the mmap minimum address, which makes it easier for attackers
to exploit kernel NULL pointer dereferences on non-SMAP platforms. This is
related to a capability check for the wrong task (CVE-2019-9213).
It also adds a preparatory fix for Skylake systems that will receive a
microcode update at a later date to address a TSX errata.
WireGuard has been updated to 0.0.20190227.
