Description MichaÅ Walenciak 2011-03-01 18:08:09 CET
Description of problem:

When I try to instal lib64qt4-devel, it requires a lot of stuff, inter alia:

lib64pulseaudio-devel
pulseaudio-client-config
lib64pulseaudio0
lib64pulsezeroconf0

are they really necessary? I don't want nor need pa in my system. If I install all those packages, and then force pulseaudio packages remove, everything works fine so I guess those pa packages were not important.

Can those pa requirements be removed?

qt4-devel requires pulseaudio-devel indirectly; i.e.:
qt4-devel requires phonon-devel
phonon-devel requires pulseaudio-devel

If pulseaudio-devel isn't present when building phonon then there won't be pulseaudio support in phonon and subsequently in some KDE4 apps.

As you know you can disable pulseaudio any time you want; force removing the packages are you own risk (e.g. removing lib64pulseglib20 in the past would render the user unable to login to kde).

Closing as wontfix.
