Description of problem: Playback of a .mkv media file using Gnome-player or Parole-media-player has no sound. VLC playback of same file has sound.

How reproducible: 2 installations/different hardware


Steps to Reproduce:
1. install above .iso and reboot.
2.select .mkv file to playback

So the Gnome and the Parole player share "something", that VLC doesn't use, and that "something" is the culprit?

I hope wally (parole maintainer) or the Gnome maintainers can help identify what it is.

Probably missing gstreamer audio codec, but can't do much without sample file. Matroska .mkv file is container supporting basically any available audio codec.

tried a different source for the .mkv file and plays ok for both players

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
