Also, while booting in safe mode I saw that the fglrx module could not be installed and the system was trying to fall back to the radeon driver. Also, while booting in safe mode I saw that the fglrx module could not be installed and the system was trying to fall back to the radeon driver. You can launch XFdrake to reload a good configuration for your driver, perhaps you can also force the rebuild of the module. OK, I tried to fix the proprietary driver with XFdrake but it doesn't work. I used XFdrake to switch back to the radeon driver. I also had to remove /etc/X11/xorg.conf because X doesn't start with the old xorg.conf. Now I am able to log into KDE. ok so close Status:

RESOLVED You can close it if you want to, but has the fglrx thing been fixed? I don't know you have some details of the issue ? Like I said before: Mageia does not boot with kernel + fglrx. And it is not possible to fix the broken fglrx using XFdrake. To work around this issue I switched to the radeon driver but I prefer fglrx. So I think this bug should remain open until fglrx is fixed. I reinstalled Mageia and reinstalled fglrx and it seems to work well now, so I can't reproduce this bug anymore. |
