Description William Kenney 2019-01-07 23:35:11 CET
Description of problem:

handbrake-1.0.7-1.mga6.tainted.x86_64.rpm
handbrake-debuginfo-1.0.7-1.mga6.tainted.x86_64.rpm

exists

the mga7 version does not. Have we dropped it or overlooked it?
A very popular package that runs wonderfully well on M6.

You don't seem to have a problem with handbrake so I think the bug title needs to change from a question into something else.

We have mailinglists to ask in if you have any questions.

It wasn't dropped, it is still in SVN and apparently the maintainer is working on it http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/handbrake/current/

I don't know why it was removed from our mirrors.

Thanks all

Thanks Marja for mentioning me. And yes, I can confirm that I still actively maintain Handbrake. I made last push a few days ago to take the 1.2.0 release in account. And it was mass-rebuilt recently.

Your the best Augier.

This just has to be one of the most popular, and controversial, apps on Mageia.
When I saw it go missing I got concerned.
Comment 6 Augier 2019-01-09 00:52:35 CET
I wasn't aware it was that popular. How do you mean "controversial"? 🤔
Comment 7 William Kenney 2019-01-09 05:40:36 CET
It's easily the most popular application for cracking DVD/Blu_Ray. You still need libdvdcss being installed with VLC but the combination is what makes it work.

Push? When talking about packages, that usually means "mgarepo submit", but handbrake-1.1.2-3.mga7.tainted from mass-rebuild is the last version/release for which I've received a changelog message (on Mon 10 Sep 2018).

However I can find neither that one, nor new handbrake-1.2.0-1.mga7.tainted, on a mirror.

Do previous versions/releases get removed when a newer gets pushed, regardless of whether the build succeeds or not? That's new to me :-(

Thank you for maintaining it :)
Handbrake is my favourite tool for minimising videos for email, machine documentation, etc; chopping off first and last seconds, cropping, rotating 90 deg, compressing.

You're right, Marja, I forgot to run mgarepo submit. I am too much used to build system that run automatically when you push to the repo. That's fixed.

Oh! Morgan Leijström, William Kenney, thank you guys! I have been maintaining Mga's HB pckg for 5 years or so now and I never got the chance to see how my work was useful to the end-user. So thank you for telling me about it (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ

Thank you from me, too, Augier. I've used HandBrakeCLI for many years to rip disks/isos and convert videos to work on GF's Samsung phone or her family's iThingies. ;)
