Description nikos papadopoulos 2019-01-07 06:09:33 CET
Description of problem:
Am I the only one to notice that the kde's language support rpms
have not been updated?

The kde-l10n-XX* rpms are still in version 16.12.3-2 ,
while most kde packages have been updated to version 17.12.2
( * XX is the two letter code of your localization ) .

The above causes various conflicts in the installation of various kde programs.
It depends on wether you have already installed
the kde-l10n-XX package for your locale,
or wether the kde programs requires you to install
the kde-l10n-XX package for your locale.

I did not see anything mentioned anywhere, so I opened this bug.

Some programs that might be affected is lokalize and kruler.

Also, bug 23735 , about amarok, seems to be relative.

How reproducible:
everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
One way
+ make a new installation of Mageia 6 (preferably, don't install Plasma)
+ update your system
+ try to install some extra kde programs
+ some of these kde programs will refuse to install
due to conflicts with the kde-l10n-XX version

Another way
+ in an older installation of Mageia,
that already has the kde-l10n-XX rpm installed with version 16.12.3-2
+ update your kde programs to 17.12.2
+ try to install some extra kde apps
+ some of these kde apps will refuse to install
due to conflicts with the kde-l10n-XX version

It's normal since latest version 17.08.03 this package doesn't exist anymore upstream!

Now, I tried to install kruler and lokalize and that worked fine.
But, when I had first created this newer installation of Mageia 6,
about a week ago, I had problems.
Note that I don't have the kde-l10n-XX package installed in this Mageia.

As for my older installation of Mageia,
where the kde-l10n-XX, version 16.12.3-2, package was already installed,
I can not test it anymore,
since I replaced it with this newer installation
(I had to move the hard disk to another computer).

So, I can not say if this bug should be closed, or not.

Though, you could add a note, in the appropriate place,
saying that this package will not get any updates any more.
But, where is that place? "Errata", maybe? I don't know...

Tried to install kdiff3 on a Mageia 6 (6.1) computer
that does not have many KDE packages already installed.
(
This installation was out of commission for a few months.
After I repaired the computer a did all the updates.
Now, I see that kdenlive has some issues.
I tried to install another kde program.
)

As you can see from the attachment #10868 [details], this bug is valid.

Some KDE dependency mess, probably.
Somehow, on my other Mageia machines, this bugs fixes itself,
after you install or upgrade more packages.

Mageia 6 is EOL, so closing of this bug as old.
