Description Lewis Smith 2018-12-16 21:14:23 CET
Description of problem:
Since early 2018, the IceApe browser (which is my preferred one) has been complaining on startup, in a red bar: "Your copy of iceape is old and probably has known security flaws, but you have disabled automated update checks. Please update to a newer version". Followed by a "Check for Updates" button which seems to do nothing.
A new Firefox update mentioned IceApe (because the latter is supposedly based on the former), to no avail.
If no newer version of IceApe exists, or (alas) it has been dropped, feel free to close this bug INVALID.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
iceape-2.49.3-1.mga6

How reproducible:
Every time IceApe is started.

Still true for Mageia 7, despite a more recent package: iceape-2.49.4-2.mga7
This is annoying & inconvenient.

Sad to know that...

I have been using Iceape (Seamonkey) for years
It's a swiss army knife :
I use it everyday as email client and news reader (Iceape News)

and, when I need it, as a wysiwyg web editor (Iceape Composer) : it's the most simple to use since Kompozer or NVU disappeared

And sometimes as web browser (but I prefer to use Firefox...)
