hamnisdude This application cannot be packaged before someone writes the tool. Not too sure we should want this, though: users can already sign up for the updates-announce mailing list https://ml.mageia.org/l/info/updates-announce Most likely, their mail client will give a pop-up when there are new messages. Not that I'm against it, but where would anyone see that mailing list and how would they know how to subscribe to it? Could it be presented somehow in Mageia Welcome or in the installer somehow? Just asking. Maybe in MageiaWelcome the "Configure media sources and update system" page could link to the updates-announce mailing list, while stating that it informs its members of new updates for stable Mageia releases. Not sure the MageiaWelcome developers agree, though ;-) Anyway, assigning. > > Just asking. CC:

napcok, yves.brungard_mageia Hello, As I'm rewriting MageiaWelcome, I can consider that. However, I consider that users interested to have notifications by email about content updates are a minority. I would instead consider a link to the website, if something is to do. https://advisories.mageia.org/ This link is already reminded regularly on blog posts. Perhaps this page should inform about the possibility to receive announces through the ml? I see Mageiawelcome as a guide about indispensable information. Here it doesn't seem to be the case. Btw, I didn't know mga-advisories is useful for everyone, instead of only for those who upload advisories, nice to know :-) The link to https://ml.mageia.org/l/info/updates-announce could be added to https://advisories.mageia.org/infos.html CC'ing Atelier Team... or should that be Sysadmin Team, as the file that needs to be adjusted suggests, see http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/infrastructure/mgaadvisories/plain/tmpl/infos.html Summary:
