Description Lewis Smith 2018-12-07 15:13:39 CET
Description of problem:
Under XFCE Tools-HPSendFax menu icon goes nowhere. This is I think an old problem not previously bugged. This machine has no Fax hardware. Cannot find any pkg with 'sendfax' in its name.
The installation is Classic ISO with 5 desktops (no Cinnamon).
I suspect the menu icon is superfluous.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Testing M7beta1, cannot find the pkg name to try from the command-line.

How reproducible:
Every time. To try from other desktops.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try the menu item for HP SendFax.

Assigning to all packagers collectively, since there is no registered maintainer for this package.
Maybe upstream hasn't found a way to add or remove that icon depending on whether you have a fax-printer-all-in-one or just a printer-scanner or printer.

M7beta2, Xfce ISO: bug still present - but the program is there (so my initial comment was wrong, although the bug title is correct):
 ls -l /usr/bin | grep sendfax
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root          25 Ion   8 21:10 hp-sendfax -> ../share/hplip/sendfax.py*

 $ hp-sendfax

 So this is sensible. Does the trivial problem warrant this bug? It is just mystifying, and no normal person would try it without having a fax machine connected. If somebody wants to close it 'invalid', I shall not mind.

That's asking a bit too much for a simple menu item. We could also just hide or remove the menu entry - but then maybe that one person actually using this would miss it.

Closing per Lewis last comment.
