It shouldn't make much difference. The thing that really slows the Live boot down is the hardware detection done by harddrake. Good point guys. ouaurelien As stated, we need to have a consistent look across the different login screens, so for the default theme, things like this aren't really an option. The plugin could be packaged, but I assume that it is available in the Plasma store for those that want to customise the way that the distribution looks. If there was a full theme that you would like to suggest that included the sddm theme, plasma and wallpaper customisations, then you could have that packaged as an alternate to the default theme.
