Is this on real hardware or in VirtualBox. If VirtualBox, you may have hit bug 23767. Does Ctrl-Alt-F2 get you to a tty login? Yes, I'm using VirtualBox. Ctrl-Alt-F2 works. The text is blinking really fast, but it's readable. If you leave it long enough it should settle down (when the DM gives up trying to start the X server). Login as root, edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and change the video driver from "vboxvideo" to "modesetting". Thank you. :) So, is the problem in initscripts or in vboxvideo? It's in vboxvideo (the X driver, not the kernel driver). In Mageia 6 we used the modesetting X driver for Vbox (IIRC, because of problems with the vboxvideo driver). It seems the change back was premature... |
