Description of problem:

This may or may not be related to the problems explained in my bug report #23812 (2018.11.06)

As I have always done I had set up the automatic login (I am the only user)when I first installed Mageia 6.1  (October 2018). The system seemed to boot correctly and function correctly, but when I shut down and restarted the message 
"all shell files missing". Since the release notes stated that this might happen when updating from version 5.0, I formatted the entire hard drive and reinstalled; the same problem occurred. Thinking that the MBR section was corrupted I had a new drive put in and reinstalled. but the same problem occurred. 

I have now reinstalled twice without automatic login and the problem has not reoccurred. As explained in my bug report #23812 taking out kmail and kwallet (and perhaps installing kate) resulted in the plasma desktop being unavailable.

Unfortunately I did not know how to obtain the log reports at that time and so I am unable to provide them

A big thank you to all the Mageia who produce such a fine product (I had compared   Mageia with others and they all had problems with the various heavy duty software (texlive, octave, graphviz etc) that I use, With Mageia everything is immediately correct, not to speak of the ease of installation and downloading.

Unfortunately I do applied programming and typesetting and can not help with this the type of programming needed to make Mageia work. As soon as I finish my latest project I hope to volunteer for some of the other tasks (e.g. package description).

Hi Roger,

Is this issue still valid, now that you have a well working updated Mageia 6 install?

It is great that you want to volunteer for some Mageia tasks :-)

BugSquad (the team I'm working for now) would be happy if you'd consider joining, too. We have many stale bugs (bug reports that haven't seen any action in many months) that could use a ping, and your fresh eyes would probably be good at telling us which information on our team pages is confusing or even wrong/outdated :-)

Feel free to join any other team instead, though!
