Sorry about the multiple attachments. I thought that I could designate both at once and then was not sure which I had uploaded (In reply to roger herz-fischler from comment #3) > Created attachment 10454 [details] > journal from /var/log/journal [marja@localhost Downloads]$ xzcat 23812journal3.txt.xz | grep "Linux version" Nov 06 06:06:29 localhost kernel: Linux version 4.9.35-desktop-1.mga6 (iurt@rabbit.mageia.org) (gcc version 5.4.0 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Thu Jun 29 19:27:27 UTC 2017 Sorry, this isn't a Mageia 6.1 install, this is a Mageia 6 install :-( There has been a huge Plasma update for Mageia 6, see https://blog.mageia.org/en/2018/05/10/the-grand-update-brace-yourselves/ (and https://blog.mageia.org/en/2018/05/14/issues-with-the-grand-update/ might apply, too) Updating a Mageia 6 Plasma5 install only works when following the advice from those blog posts. The only way to do a traditional Mageia 6.1 install, is using a network iso, e.g. : http://www.mageia.org/en/downloads/get/?q=Mageia-6.1-netinstall-x86_64-CD.iso or http://www.mageia.org/en/downloads/get/?q=Mageia-6.1-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64-CD.iso For instructions on how to use the network iso, see http://doc.mageia.org/netinstall/6/en/content/index.html Note that it won't work with bluetooth or encrypted wifi. Mageia 6.1 Live isos are available, including a Plasma5 Live iso. Mageia 7 will have full classical isos again. I hope you'll manage to do a real 6.1 install using a netinstall iso or a Live iso. Please report back when you succeed (or not). CC:

I should have noticed that on the second page it only said 6 and not 6.1.
I will be more careful next time.
In any case I am very pleased with 6.0 plus updates
(In reply to roger herz-fischler from comment #8) > Created attachment 10463 [details] > 6.1 download page no 1 "Download Mageia 6.1" is misleading (In reply to roger herz-fischler from comment #9) > Created attachment 10464 [details] > 6.1 download page no 2 > > I should have noticed that on the second page it only said 6 and not 6.1. > > I will be more careful next time. I'll assign this report to Atelier team, maybe they can give "initial" and "6" in "Classic installation (initial release 6)" a red color, or do something else to make more clear that "Download Mageia 6.1" doesn't apply to the Classical iso. > > In any case I am very pleased with 6.0 plus updates I'm glad that works :-) Assignee:

atelier-bugs Reviewing this old bug, it transpires that Mageia 6.1 was *not* released as a Classic ISO, just the Lives. I find that...[deleted] > Mageia 6.1 Live isos are available, including a Plasma5 Live iso Marja's comment 6 explains it all: complicated! Congratulate Roger on the beautifully annotated screenshots comments 8 & 9. A picture is worth 1000 words. Roger's obvious starting point (after discovering the false trail) was to install the 6.1 Plasma Live, and add to that. This is all water under the bridge. For reasons bugged elsewhere (which I cannot yet find), application constraints keep Roger on M6.1. Since the subject of this bug is obsolete, closing it. Status:
