hector I can confirm this bug as i use kate all the days to code in C++. To be more precise, the "button" that Jérome talk are the sidebar tabs for right, left and bottom sides. You can activate these views through the menu, as with the keyboard shortcuts. Note that KF5 framework KWidgetsaddons can be concerned by this problem. Typically, the widget KMultiTabBar is used to display this kind of view in Kate. I just checked the kate source code. So it certainly a DOWNSTREAM bug in KDE framework, or more in-depth, in Qt5 framework as the dysfunction appear for me just after to just from Qt5.6 to Qt 5.9 through Mageia6 update. caulier.gilles Note : KDevelop which use also sidebar do not have this problem... Gilles Caulier I am seeing the very same issues in Kile. So this is a general KDE/Qt issue. Perhaps it would be better to assign it to a different package?
