I suspect a problem in the mirror selected by your system, please provide the result of

rpm -qa | grep tainted | grep ffmpeg

(you should get ffmpeg-3.3.6-1.mga6.tainted )

If the output of

 urpmq --list-media active --list-url

Give you tainted repository is active then try to remove repositories
and set a different mirror (or a particular one if you use the automatic mirror feature)

drakrpm-editmedia -> File -> Add a specific media mirror (see http://mirrors.mageia.org/status for one that fits to you)

then update

urpmi --auto-update
Comment 6 Garth Hoyman 2018-07-23 19:16:52 CEST
problem resolved through MCC
I went to MCC>Software management> configure media sources > file > update > select all > update
still on MCC went to update your system
30 or so codecs & such updated
Kdenlive encodes to mp4

Thanks for the help
