And got a few of these while doing an update

failed to read /var/lib/alternatives/jre_1.8.0: Is a directory

Java unavailable for me too. I tried using update-alternatives to see if the link wasn't updated, and got the following error

admindir /var/lib/alternatives invalid

In fact, /var/lib/alternatives is a symlink to rpm/alternatives, which doesn't exist
