mageia are kcalutils and hspell installed ? and is sonnet installed ? if not can you install sonnet hspell and kcalutils and retry kmail. Thanks kcalutils was not installed, I installed : kcalutils-16.12.3-1.mga6 The others are : hspell-1.2-8.mga6 sonnet-5.42.0-1.mga6 but kmail is still crashing You should install kcalutils-17.12.2-1.mga6 not kcalutils-16.12.3-1.mga6 And what is the output on console after that? kmail run from the command line with kcalutils-17.12.2-1.mga6
Ok! so this come from the Nouveau driver and mesa :( https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1485203 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1350275 OK. I'm installing nvidia driver and rebooting. Well, after : - a problem in my /tmp partition at reboot that needed a manual fsck but I couldn't run it because I have no time to check anything before the system restart automatically : staggering ! - after resolving my /tmp problem, i got the message "the system must be restarted because of a modification in the display system" (it is my translation of French message). Still staggering : I had first rebooted it for this reason. Rebooting gives eternally the same result. - so I restored the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.old and rebooted and I got hanged after the message : "[OK] Started notify NFS peers of a restart". So I don't know what is not working. I join the end of /var/log/messages in attachment before I Alt-Impr-b. This is why I'm writing this report from my old mageia 5 ! Hope you'll find a solution. Thanks. Created attachment 10162 [details]
end of /var/log/messages before booting
Could anyone tell me why my system gets stuck to the black screen while anything seems OK in /var/log/messages (in attachment). As you can see, I waited 23 minutes before rebooting on a back screen with all the previous messages OK. As I said above, I restored the old /etc/X11/xorg.conf containing the configuration for my graphic board with the nouveau driver. This configuration was working just before I replaced the nouveau driver by the proprietary Nvidia driver that doesn't work. For this, I used the MCC that asked me to reboot. Does the MCC do something else than replacing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file ? Created attachment 10172 [details]
end of /var/log/messages before rebooting
Mageia 6 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2019-09-30. It is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we weren't able to fix it before Mageia 6's end of life. If you are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. If you would like to help fixing bugs in the future, don't hesitate to join the packager team via our mentoring program [1] or join the teams that fit you most [2].
