Description Anshul Jain 2011-07-26 15:43:38 CEST
Description of problem:
This bug is kinda difficult to show through a screenshot, so an explanation. When the cursor is moved to any entry in the taskbar a plasma popup is shown. This popup is momentarily black and then quickly turns translucent. This is when Kwin effects are turned on (and Blur is off).

When I activate the "Fade" plugin it goes away and the fade effect takes over. However, the "Fade" effect makes the system slow, therefore I'd like to keep it turned off.

I've not noticed this problem under Kubuntu, openSUSE or PCLOS.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

x11-driver-video-intel-2.15.0-2.1.mga1

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Turn on Kwin effects
2. Move cursor to taskbar, wait for plasma popup to come on
3. The plasma popup is momentarily black and then turns translucent.

Assigning to maintainer now that our maintainer's database has an entry for
this package. Please assign back to bugsquad@mageia.org in case of a mistake
from me.

@ Anshul

Do you, by any chance, know whether this issue is in updated cauldron (updated Mageia 2 alpha 2), too?

No idea, I haven't updated to Cauldron...keeping myself "stable" :)

This has appeared permanently in the last two days - makes Cauldron very difficult to use as the pop-up legends are almost illegible.

Some pop-ups are normal some are black as in the screenshot, but unlike the OP this is fixed not transient.

It seems to be independant of theme as I have tried 3 different ones with no change.

I can file a separate bug if necessary, but this one seems to be the closest match.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 1 is nearing its end of life.
In approximately 25 days from now, Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing
updates for Mageia 1. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it
remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '1'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to
fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later
Mageia version prior to Mageia 1's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not
be able to fix it before Mageia 1 is end of life. If you would still like to see
this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia,
you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version
of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime,
sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia
release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 1 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''1st December''. Mageia 1 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
