mageia Mageia 6 :: x86_64 Installed all missing packages. Clean update. Plasma desktop looks OK. Adjusted sizes where necessary. Changed theme from Breeze Dark to Breeze Light. Tried some programs from the application menu. ftp/filezilla worked fine. Started konversation but made a mistake with the password but could find no way to get back to the initialization screen to change it so gave up after a while. It works as far as I can see. So do all the panel icons. $ kmediaplayer bash: kmediaplayer: command not found Tried the applications menu and the nearest thing seemed to be dragonplayer. That was unable to find a .m2t file in ~/Videos. Had to resort to the command-line (ye cannae beat it!) and was able to play it. $ dragon <file>.m2t sonnet appears in the kf5 list but not in the menus and does not have an obvious command-line invocation. $ urpmq --whatrequires lib64kf5guiaddons5 | sort -u | grep -v lib blinken breeze dikt kalarm kcalc kdenlive kdevplatform kdialog kio-extras kolourpaint kpat krusader ktexteditor-plugins kwordquiz oxygen php-kolab plasma-desktop plasma-workspace tellico $ kdenlive: relocation error: kdenlive: symbol qt_qhash_seed, version Qt_5 not defined in file libQt5Core.so.5 with link time reference kolourpaint runs OK from the command-line. Installed krusader and invoked the configuration dialogue and exited. $ urpmq --requires kmahjongg | grep -i kf5 --requires behaviour changed, use --requires-recursive to get the old behaviour libKF5Completion.so.5()(64bit) libKF5ConfigCore.so.5()(64bit) libKF5ConfigGui.so.5()(64bit) libKF5ConfigWidgets.so.5()(64bit) libKF5CoreAddons.so.5()(64bit) libKF5Crash.so.5()(64bit) libKF5DBusAddons.so.5()(64bit) libKF5I18n.so.5()(64bit) libKF5KDEGames.so.7()(64bit) libKF5KMahjongglib.so.5()(64bit) libKF5WidgetsAddons.so.5()(64bit) libKF5XmlGui.so.5()(64bit) Played a game of kmahjongg - all OK. Leaving Plasma running for a while. CC:

tarazed25 on mga6-64 plasma
all of the listed rpms installed cleanly
re-booted into plasma
I ignored the messages that kdeinit and kcminit "closed unexpectedly"
desktop launched normally and common applications work normally
This should probably be tested by someone who uses the more exotic features of plasma - I don't use Desktop Effects or Activities or kwallet
So far, this update looks OK for mga6-64 on this system:

jim Everything works fine so fat on 64-bits arch. Do you why https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353026 is not fixed with this new version of krunner? CC:

olivier.delaune Still get the message when updating ... The following package has to be removed for others to be upgraded: lib64kf5ksieveui_5-16.12.3-1.mga6.x86_64 (due to unsatisfied libksieve == 2:16.12.3) (y/N) If the user doesn't override it the updates will not be installed. CC:

davidwhodgins Under vb, kwin is failing right after login with a message "KWin is unstable." While kwin-5.12.2-1.mga6.src.rpm is not listed as being part of this update, I suspect it should be. From dmesg ... [ 28.427528] kded5[2714]: segfault at 2 ip 00007ff0b657bd40 sp 00007ffd9c445480 error 4 in libQt5Gui.so.5.9.4[7ff0b6400000+51c000] [ 31.302538] kaccess[2734]: segfault at 2 ip 00007ff0b657bd40 sp 00007ffd9c445070 error 4 in libQt5Gui.so.5.9.4[7ff0b6400000+51c000] [ 36.904849] fuse init (API version 7.26) Similar error on real hardware. # dmesg|grep segfault [ 34.718346] kded5[3589]: segfault at 7f9a278d6bb0 ip 00007f9a278d6bb0 sp 00007ffeed63ef48 error 14 in kconfig5_qt.qm[7f9a278f8000+1000] [ 74.909498] ksmserver[3638]: segfault at 6a4c2627 ip 0000003898211823 sp 00007ffe50f41318 error 4 in libKF5GlobalAccel.so.5.42.0[3898200000+1e000] Latest qt5 updates fixed the segfault problem both in the vb guest and on real hardware. In a 64-bit vbox guest, after installing packages from the QT5 Stack update, and rebooting, I turned to the packages in this bug. Comment 4 is still valid on this install. Selected all the packages with a version number of 5.42.0 from the list of updates presented - 131 in total. Packages all installed cleanly, no errors. Shut down the machine, then started it again. One kdeinit error box closed on its own, the other two were closed by me. Boot and login finished normally. Desktop looks good, appears to be working normally. Moving on to the next bug... CC:

andrewsfarm I've done the update today on Mageia 6 x86_64 (using `urpmi --auto-select --searchmedia testing` to pick all needed deps, after adding all the other updates_testing packages I don't want to test to my urpmi skip list). So far so good, everything works as expected. Upgraded all installed packages to qt5.9.4; kf5.42; plasma5.12.2 and kdeapps17.12.2 versions. Logged out and back in. No more "kdeinit" errors and plasma desktop & applications seem to work OK. CC:

jyri2000 Trying to remove a number of mga5 packages leftover from my upgrade, it
wants to remove a large number of mga6 packages including ...
lib64kdecore5-4.14.35-1.mga6.x86_64
(due to unsatisfied phonon-backend >= 4.2.0,
due to unsatisfied kdelibs4-core >= 2:4.14.35)
# rpm -qa|grep kdelibs4-core
kdelibs4-core-4.14.35-1.mga6 (with the Epoch set to 2)
# urpmq --whatprovides phonon-backend
phonon-gstreamer|phonon-vlc|phonon-vlc
# rpm -qa|grep phonon-vlc
phonon-vlc-0.10.0-1.mga6
The phonon-gstreamer package is not installed. Installing it stops it from
trying to remove lib64kdecore5.
As phonon-vlc was already installed, why is the requires for phonon-backend
not being met by that? If phonon-gstreamer is required, the requires on
lib64kdecore5 need to be fixed.
It still wants to remove phonon-vlc libs, which I'm looking into.
Ah. The phonon-backend wasn't being provide as phonon-vlc would be removed due to
vlc-plugin-common-3.0.0-1.mga6.tainted.x86_64
(due to missing libavcodec.so.57()(64bit),
due to missing libavcodec.so.57(LIBAVCODEC_57)(64bit),
due to missing libavformat.so.57()(64bit),
due to missing libavformat.so.57(LIBAVFORMAT_57)(64bit),
due to missing libvlc_vdpau.so.0()(64bit),
due to missing libopencv_objdetect.so.2.4()(64bit))
Not sure if that belongs in this bug report or not.

Output from urpme command for mga5 packages
Attaching it here as it wants to remove phonon4qt5-vlc-0.10.0-1.mga6.x86_64
Will be referring to this attachment in other bug reports.
i don't understand what you are doing here. Testing M6 x64 real hardware AMD/ATI/Radeon video. 22657 Qt5 update: 54 pkgs at 5.9.4-1, 1 at 5.9.4-3 22658 KF5 update: 125 pkgs at 5.42.0-1, 4 at 5.42.0-2, 1 at 5.42.0-4 These were installed independently, in order. I had successfully used the Qt5 update on its own - but not with Plasma. Living with the total 'stack' at this level, without the next Plasma layer, gave me no problems (though I did not use Plasma for that phase). Adding that next layer also seemed OK, specifically using Plasma. So I give this update the OK. @packagers Please review the feedback for this bug and decide whether it can be OK'd and validated. I think 'yes'. If you agree, please do that. I have used this on both 64-bit and 32-bit real hardware, and 64-bit vbox guests, with good success. OKing on both arches, and validating. Whiteboard:
