Yes, could have done earlier... ok...
Same problem with kernel-desktop-4.14.25 ... Looks like a known issue with samsung laptops... and power saving... First you get: uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device WebCam SCB-1110M (1210:0909) usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo Then after a little time: usbcore: deregistering interface driver uvcvideo Is samsung-tools installed ? If not, install it and use it to enable webcam, does it work then ? As I said in the first post (step to reproduce), samsung-tools is installed but it works only with kernel-desktop-4.9.* and kernel-tmb-desktop-4.14.* It doesn't work with kernel-desktop-4.14.* When I enable webcam with this kernel no node is created. After enabling the webcam (and st lists it as enabled...) I tried also a "modprobe uvcvideo" with no success. BTW kernel-dektop-4.14.25 gave me two consecutive kernel panics during shut down with blu caps lock led blinking. Should I file another bug? If yes, what help can I provide? Thanks. Still present in 4.14.40. Using kernel tmb 4.14.18. BUT now systemctl hibernate doesn't work. systemctl suspend is ok. Just a feedback.. Update for kernel 4.14.44 /dev/video0 bug still present in kernel-desktop 4.14.44 I also had a kernel panic after an "init 6", but "systemctl hibernate" is now working. Everything seems ok with kernel-tmb-desktop 4.14.44. Switching to it... Update for kernel 4.14.50
Maybe we have a regression...
Cannot use samsung-tools any more.
Program hangs and reports the following:

It seems unable to manage disabled interfaces.
As a bonus, I was unable to turn off pc from KDE and I had to switch to console and do a manual "init 6" reboot.
This was only good to a grade: after a while, pc hung and I was forced to "Ctrl-Alt-PrtScreen R E I S U B" reboot.
Everything seems still OK with TMB 4.14.44.
Stuck on it.
Update for kernel 4.14.56 No good news. Kernel panic on exit. No hibernate. Everything seems still OK with TMB 4.14.44. Stuck on it. Still on 4.14.56... samsung-tools seem back online. BUT no /dev/video0 created when webcam activated by "samsung-tools -w on" or "samsung-tools -w toggle". on "systemctl hibernate", KDE hangs on lock screen forever: no mouse, no keyboard, and then no "ctrl+alt+f2/3/4/5".... just the power switch >4sec BTW: cpupower-4.14.56-1.mga6 Update for kernel 4.14.62 Still no /dev/video0 on "samsung-tools -w on". Plus: 1. "systemctl suspend" ok on power off. When resuming, no keyboard nor mouse on KDE. But Ctrl+Alt+PrtScr+ R E I S U B works. 2. "systemctl hibernate" hangs on KDE lock screen: no disk activity, nothing. RC730 frozen. Kernel TMB 4.14.44 still working. GLUED to it. Update for kernel-tmb 4.14.62 At first everything seemed ok: /dev/video0 created on "systemctl -w on" and deleted on "systemctl -w off"; no problem on "systemctl suspend" "systemctl hibernate" and on reboot and shutdown. BUT after a few reboots (and a hibernation test) a new error sprang out: on bootstrap systemd-logind.service entered failed state with exit-code=1/FAILURE From there on I couldn't properly login in Plasma and I had no terminals. I'll stay with tmb 4.14.44. I'm going to open a new bug report. See you there. Update for kernel 4.14.65. Nothing new. No /dev/video0 on "samsung-tools -w on" plus crash on reboot with kernel panic and pc stuck on "systemctl hibernate" Update for kernel-tmb 4.14.65 It seems ok but for the tricky systemd-logind "bug". I'll file an update in the proper bug-report. Update for kernel 4.18.20-desktop-1.mga6 Bug seems to be resolved! Actually on "samsung-tools -w on" it creates TWO video devices: /dev/video0 and /dev/video1, but /dev/video1 cannot be opened. VLC reports: [00007fa204000e90] v4l2 demux error: not a video capture device [00007fa204000e90] v4l2 demux error: not a radio tuner device [00007fa204003020] v4l2 stream error: not a video capture device I don't know this /dev/video1 device what refers to. However: better one more than nothing! There are still problems with "systemctl hibernate" but I'll file a comment in the proper thread. I guess we can call it "RESOLVED". Thank you so much for the hard work! See you 'round! Resolution:
