Description Herman Viaene 2018-02-07 09:55:10 CET
Description of problem:
Installing Mageia 6 Classic installer fails wheen trying to install on a brand new disk

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put a brand new disk in PC (UEFI) connected on first SATA port, thus detected as /dev/sda
2.try to define one (or more) partitions on it using Custom Partitioning. The first partition proposed by the installer is /boot/EFI, thereafter you can do your own thing
3.get error : "Error in part#3" and partition table is not written to the disk, even if only 2 partitions are defined.

I got out of this by using Live Knoppix and Gparted to write a FAT partition to the whole disk, and then restarting the Mageia installation.

It's a pity you already found a workaround and continued, so you can no longer reproduce this issue... or did you buy two such disks? ;-)

@ anyone hitting this issue, _please_

* switch to tty2 when getting the error
* insert a USB key
* type

      bug

* attach report.bug that was written to the USB key to this bug report

It would also be nice to know whether diskdrake in an installed system or on a Live iso have similar problems.

Closing as OLD, since this was never confirmed and there are no logs.
