This is not a conclusive test (no Gnome on this laptop) but at least none of the usual operations are broken. CC:

herman.viaene Been using it for ~1 days so far without issues on Gnome x86_64 install Should probably be tested on i586 too CC:

tmb just tested on i586 and everything seems OK. Can someone from the QA test this too ? on mga6-64 Gnome (Wayland) packages installed cleanly: - lib64pixman-devel-0.34.0-1.mga6.x86_64 - lib64wayland-client0-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.x86_64 - lib64wayland-cursor0-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.x86_64 - lib64wayland-devel-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.x86_64 - lib64wayland-egl1-17.3.3-1.mga6.x86_64 - lib64wayland-egl1-devel-17.3.3-1.mga6.x86_64 - lib64wayland-server0-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.x86_64 - lib64weston-devel-3.0.0-1.mga6.x86_64 - lib64xkbcommon-devel-0.7.1-1.mga6.x86_64 - wayland-tools-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.x86_64 - weston-3.0.0-1.mga6.x86_64 - weston-libs-3.0.0-1.mga6.x86_64 logged out and in - gnome did not launch - returned to login screen (SDDM) re-booted Gnome (Wayland) launched normally Tested several commonly used applications no regressions noted looks OK for mga6-64 on this system (after a re-boot) Dell product: Precision Tower 3620 Mobo: Dell model: 09WH54 Card: Intel HD Graphics 530 CPU: Quad core Intel Core i7-6700 (-HT-MCP-) PC-BIOS (legacy) boot GPT partitions CC:

jim I assume that the item labelled "Gnome" in the login dialogue uses Wayland
On this system the item labelled "Gnome (Wayland)" just re-displays the login dialogue
on mga6-32 Gnome on 4.14.16-server-1.mga6
packages installed cleanly:
- libwayland-client0-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.i586
- libwayland-cursor0-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.i586
- libwayland-egl1-17.3.3-1.mga6.i586
- libwayland-server0-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.i586
- wayland-doc-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.noarch
- wayland-tools-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.i586
- weston-3.0.0-1.mga6.i586
- weston-libs-3.0.0-1.mga6.i586
Re-booted and Gnome launched normally
Tested several commonly used applications
No regressions noted
Looks OK on this system:
Machine: Device: desktop Mobo: ECS model: GeForce7050M-M v: 1.0
CPU: Quad core AMD Phenom 9500 (-MCP-)
Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GF108 [GeForce GT 630]
Display Server: Mageia X.org 119.5 drivers: nvidia,v4l
seems OK, can we validate this ? I would prefer to have seen more testing by habitual Gnome users, but based on the testing done and the fact that this update is needed for progress to be made on the pending QT/plasma/KF updates I have added the OK's and validated this update. The advisory (comment#2) needs to be uploaded to SVN. The updated SRPM's are: wayland-1.14.0-1.3.mga6.src.rpm weston-3.0.0-1.mga6.src.rpm The packages can then be pushed to updates. Whiteboard:
