doktor5000 The library is not missing, please check the output of "urpmf libsane-epson2" command. It is contained in libsane1/lib64sane package. @Jean Christophe: What's the problem with your scanner? Is it not detected, or is it not scanning as normal user? Please show the outputs of "sane-find-scanner" as root with the scanner connected and also "scanimage -L" as root with the scanner connected. @ Jean Christophe Please reply to the question above within two weeks from now, to avoid this bug being closed as OLD. Thank you. Keywords:

RESOLVED Hi all, I encouter a very big problem with an Epson Perfection 1250. In a first time i try this solution : http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=849811 withouth success In a second time i install the epson drivers that i found here : http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02/DriverDownloadInfo.do?LG2=FR&CN2=&DSCMI=28880&DSCCHK=60e523fdd03febc4c175ce08eb7edb6ca28faf67 So in the CCM i can found now in the manual list of scanners : -EPSON -epson corp where i can find my epson perfection 1250. In /lib/udev/rules.d./60-iscan.rules i find (extract): ATTRS{idVendor}=="04b8", ATTRS{idProduct}=="010f", MODE="0644", GROUP="usb", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes" In /lib/udev/rules.d/60-libsane.rules I find (extract): ATTRS{idVendor}=="04b8", ATTRS{idProduct}=="010e", MODE="0644", GROUP="usb", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes" # EPSON GT-7200U | EPSON Perfection 1250 | EPSON Perfection 1250 PHOTO # Epson Perfection 1250 | Epson Perfection 1250Photo ATTRS{idVendor}=="04b8", ATTRS{idProduct}=="010f", MODE="0644", GROUP="usb", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes" And for this command: [pierre@pub-laptop ~]$ getent group | grep scanner scanner:x:487:saned,pierre When i open Xsane : i can see the good driver but when i choose it, the system said that there is an errof of I/O :-( So i close xsane and i reopened it, xsane find only the "bison" driver for my webcam. You will find more informations on my problem in this topic (in french) : http://www.mageialinux-online.org/forum/topic-13495-1+scanner-epson-perfection-4870-photo.php Thanks a lot for your help Priority:

High Sorry, but you haven't provided information on the previous questions yet: (In reply to Florian Hubold from comment #2) > @Jean Christophe: What's the problem with your scanner? Is it not detected, > or is it not scanning as normal user? Please show the outputs of > "sane-find-scanner" > as root with the scanner connected and also > "scanimage -L" > as root with the scanner connected. And please don't change the priority field, that is for the assignee of the bug. Priority:

Normal @ tuxmips I think that you are using the wrong driver. The 1250 is not listed on the page that you quote. I believe that you need these two packages listed for gcc-3.4 or later: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02/DriverDownloadInfo.do?LG2=EN&CN2=&DSCMI=15831&DSCCHK=dc314c7561f36b1e0796b28c20038ddc9fc14ff3 http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02/DriverDownloadInfo.do?LG2=EN&CN2=&DSCMI=15831&DSCCHK=dc314c7561f36b1e0796b28c20038ddc9fc14ff3 I recently installed those packages on a Mageia 4 system and they work without problems using the iscan program. (I don't think that we tested them with xsane, but I see no reason why they would not work with it.) IIRC you need to install the iscan package first and then the plugin package, but first of all remove the Mageia sane-backends-iscan package if you have it installed. Hi thanks for your answer. But i do not really see where the epson Perfection is not listed ! I explain that Xsane see the good driver but i have an I/O error :( By the way, i have already try the rpm for 386 systems on the PC of my sister in law few weeks ago without success but i will try again on my PC. But to test again, i think that i must remove before the epson iscan rpm. And sorry for the priority field, but i thint that it's me who change the priority :( and will come back as soon as possible :-) Well... I install in command line : iscan-plugin-gt-7200-1.0.0-1.c2.i386.rpm & iscan-2.10.0-1.c2.i386.rpm But when i search the packages on the system: [root@pub-laptop ~]# urpmi --fuzzy --test iscan Pas de paquetage nommé iscan Les paquetages suivants contiennent iscan : lib64girepository-devel, libgirepository-devel, sane-backends-iscan Vous pouvez utiliser « -a » pour les sélectionner tous [root@pub-laptop ~]# And i have always the same I/O error even after reboot the PC :( (In reply to Pierre Opter from comment #10) > Well... > > I install in command line : > iscan-plugin-gt-7200-1.0.0-1.c2.i386.rpm > & > iscan-2.10.0-1.c2.i386.rpm > > But when i search the packages on the system: > > [root@pub-laptop ~]# urpmi --fuzzy --test iscan That searches your enabled Mageia repos not your system. To check for installed packages use: rpm -qa | grep iscan CC:
(none) =>
zen25000 [root@pub-laptop ~]# rpm -qa | grep iscan iscan-2.10.0-1.c2 iscan-plugin-gt-7200-1.0.0-1.c2 That's ok :-) But no scan :-( I installed the iscan package first and then the plugin package, but first I remove the Mageia sane-backends-iscan package except sane-backends because if i do that i desinstall also drakconf and other softs system ! The result is here : https://www.kalessin.fr/~pierre/.photos/.mageia_scan/ I'm going crazy !! I dont understand why i must install i586 rpm on a x86-64 system ! On reflection, I think that it was an i586 system on which I installed the 1250. I don't think that I've ever installed it on a 64 bit system. Have you ever had it working on a 64 bit linux system? It is a very old model (at least 10 years, I think). It is possible that Epson may have decided not to support it on 64 bit linux systems. for information : the perfection 1250 work "out of the box" on the laptop's wife that is under mageia 3 (x86-64 system) !!!!! (Toshiba Portege A600-142) I will retry this evening but i think that it's necessary to work on this regression. The mageia 3 choose the 1250/Photo driver and not the 1250 only. And (under m3) : xsane show that the driver is a plustek. I will desinstall epson i386 driver. If it works on your wife, we must have your wife's specifications. CC:

dvgevers well... I try to do the same configuration : and i install the same rpm packages until the cofiguration of the dll. conf (i comment epson, epson2) Without success. Xsane, only find the plustek driver. Then i close Xsane, reopened it and xsane find the Bison Webcam driver :-( Mageia 4 makes me crazy. I think that's its a problem of "rights" on the system. But i am not an expert... On my wife's laptop i have : - lib64sane 1 1.0.23 - sane-backends 1.0.23 - xsane 0.998 - lib64sane-hpaio1 3.12.9 sane-backends-iscan is not installed ! Thanks for your help !!! If you have any issues with them, please contact Epson support. Apart from that, please show the output of "id" command as you normal user. Im agree with you :) But note that i,at this time, have already removed the epson proprietary drivers and i come back with only mageia packages. And y try to have the "same" configuration of my wife's laptop. Without success. Note also that i am (a little) under pressure : the husband of my sister in law that will used this driver find Windows really better :-D [pierre@pub-laptop ~]$ id uid=500(pierre) gid=500(pierre) groupes=500(pierre) Note that the laptop of my sister in law and mine come with the Live DVD x86-64 version. My wife's laptop comes with the last 2010.2 of mandriva then mageia 1, 2 and to finish for the moment the version 3.

(none) Hi all I come back with good news. One of my friend find the solution ! In fact, the epson drivers internet site gives bad informations and to find the last "good" drivers, it's necessary to find the last drivers with an other scanner. So make a research with a more recent scanner as the V550 at this adress: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/search/01/search/?OSC=LX Download : - iscan-data-1.29.0-2.noarch.rpm - iscan-2.29.3-1.usb0.1.ltdl7.i386.rpm - but find iscan-plugin-gt-7200-1.0.0-1.c2.i386.rpm with a research on the same site with Perfection 1250 Then if necessary : desinstall saned & all previous iscan rpm on your system Then make this commands on your system : - urpmi iscan-data-1.29.0-2.noarch.rpm - urpmi iscan-2.29.3-1.usb0.1.ltdl7.i386.rpm - rpm -i --nodeps iscan-plugin-gt-7200-1.0.0-1.c2.i386.rpm It's will be ok with xsane :-) For my laptop it's OK :-) I will make a new try ont the laptop of my sister in law as soon as is possible and after that you will can closed this bug. Thanks a lot for your patience & help And sorry for my not very fluent english Closing again. Status:
