Description Chris Denice 2017-10-31 15:33:55 CET
Under Cauldron, packages that are depending on systemd-devel cannot be installed:

The following packages can't be installed because they depend on packages
that are older than the installed ones:
systemd-devel-230-12.mga6

And indeed, for some reasons, the version of systemd installed under my machine is:

rpm -qi lib64systemd0
Name : lib64systemd0
Version : 230
Release : 12.1.mga6
Architecture: x86_64
Install Date: Wed 25 Oct 2017 11:12:48 CEST
Group : System/Libraries
Size : 549224
License : GPLv2+
Signature : RSA/SHA1, Mon 14 Aug 2017 18:33:14 CEST, Key ID b742fa8b80420f66
Source RPM : systemd-230-12.1.mga6.src.rpm
Build Date : Mon 14 Aug 2017 18:25:58 CEST
Build Host : ecosse.mageia.org
Relocations : (not relocatable)
Packager : doktor5000 <doktor5000>
Vendor : Mageia.Org
URL : http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd
Summary : Systemd library package
Description :
This package provides the systemd shared library.

While the one available on Cauldron is OLDER:

urpmq -i lib64systemd0
Name : lib64systemd0
Version : 230
Release : 12.mga6
Group : System/Libraries
Size : 549232 Architecture: x86_64
Source RPM : systemd-230-12.mga6.src.rpm
URL : http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd
Summary : Systemd library package
Description :
This package provides the systemd shared library.

Something is seriously wrong, Cauldron has an older version than the one provided by mga6!

Systemd should be having version 234 in cauldron since August 9... I suppose it wouldn't build in cauldron since at least then?

It is since bug 21356 was fixed, with cauldron still having v.230, that Mga6 has a newer (sub)release than Cauldron.

Assigning to the basesystem maintainers.

this is not a pb as we are working on it.

New systemd is available on updates_testing

I'd say it's a problem until new version lands to core/release.

P.S. There're no systemd pkgs in core/updates_testing.

This also affects libudev(-devel).

I had noticed this but blamed it on some local bump during the upgrade procedure to Cauldron.
