Description Marcello Di Guglielmo 2017-10-27 22:10:35 CEST
Description of problem:
i'll expone my experience using plasma desktop of mga6 on a old laptop Dell 505 with graphics card Intel 810.
The screen did not start like a problem on graphic acceleration: black background without menu. Trying other window manager like ICEWM they started correctly.

The solution found is to add on /etc/X11/xorg.conf on Section "Device" the string

Option "DRI" "false"

in this way the screen return to be aviable

It would be useful to add an option on drakconf valid for that condition.
So avoid to limitate all older laptop that would come back to be usable running PLASMA 5.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mga6

How reproducible:
installing Mageia on older laptop

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

The issue you've hit looks like bug 16544, an SDDM bug.

I'll leave this report open for your request to have an option in XFdrake to set
'Option "DRI" "false"'
