(none) Are you able to print another pdf with okular ? (is it happening with *every* pdf or just this one ? ) Did you eventually try with another pdf reader (like evince for example) ? CC:

Please check if you can find any error messages related to a failed print job (compare time if necessary) in /var/log/cups/error_log . CC:

cjw /var/log/cups/error_log is totally empty. I try again to print a PdF document, the printer's status is: "processing", the paper goes out of the printer but it still white. It does the same with libre office documents. I installed Evince and tried to print a PdF and the result: white. With Html: failure. What shall I do to print something? What driver are you using for this printer? It should be 'splix' from the package cups-drivers-splix. I think you can see this in system-config-printer[1] or the cups web interface[2] in the 'Make and Model' field. [1] Applications -> Tools -> System Tools -> Printing [2] Applications -> Tools -> System Tools -> Manage Printing Are you saying HTML also produces blank pages or do you get an error message? For PDFs you could try to convert it to PostScript manually using (in a terminal, for a PDF called x.pdf): pdftops x.pdf x.ps Then check that the .ps file can be viewed in evince or okular, and print it. You can also print the .ps file in a terminal with: lpr x.ps I found the driver in Applications -> Tools -> System Tools -> Manage Printing. It is: Samsung ML-1610 Foomatic/gdi (color, 2-sided printing) HTML produces blank pages: no error message. Created attachment 675 [details]

One can see that the ML1640 driver is not visible in this list. After installing splix from the add/remove packages, the 1640 drivers become available in the configuration. Once a french 1640 driver was configured, printing works. Note that test pages always print fine with the ML 1610 driver. (In reply to comment #12) > I found the driver in Applications -> Tools -> System Tools -> Manage Printing. > It is: Samsung ML-1610 Foomatic/gdi (color, 2-sided printing) > HTML produces blank pages: no error message. So it looks like you need to install the cups-drivers-splix package and change the driver (Make and Model) to Samsung ML-1640, SpliX V. 2.0.0 . I checked with system-config-printer but it can also be done in the web interface you used. AFAICT the latest version of system-config-printer makes splix the default driver for all these printers, but I in this case the problem is likely that the driver is not installed automatically. @ Annemarie Was the problem solved? NEEDINFO Yes, Feht AREZKI wrote about the 2011-07-24. @ Annemarie: Thanks for replying @ Florian: This issue was solved for the reporter three months ago. If you want this report to stay open for the driver not having been installed automatically, it is all yours, else it can be closed. Keywords:

(none) As i don't know exactly where the problem is (i.e. why system-config-printer did not automatically install the driver available from the repos) and can't reproduce without the printer, there's not much i could do about it. Maybe would be nice to have something like in Fedora those "test days", so we could have a printing test day and report what works and what doesn't and then fix accordingly ... Status:
