Description Timothée Giet 2017-09-28 11:26:06 CEST
Description of problem:

When using the live installer of Mageia 6, there is no user creation window at first boot, it goes directly to the login screen.

This is very bad for simple users who will not know how to workaround the issue.
Ideally this should be fixed and live iso updated.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

tested with mageia6 live kde and xfce iso.

How reproducible:

All the time

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install from live iso
2.Reboot
3.See the issue

Thanks for the report. I don't remember having seen that this issue was reported before and can't imagine that our QA iso testers would have agreed to release Mageia 6 if they had hit it in the last set of isos. Can you give more precise instructions on how to reproduce it?

* which exact isos (and please exact paths to where you downloaded them from)
* did you install from the iso's boot menu or boot into Live mode and install from there?
* it'll be in the logs, but for easier reproduction: which locale settings did you select?
* and did you keep (so not format) an existing home partition?
* please attach log1.xz and log2.xz that are the result of running, as root, on one of the systems where you noticed this issue and where you didn't overwrite that install:

 journalctl -b1 > log1 && journalctl -b2 > log2 && xz log1 log2

Setting version to cauldron, we always do that for bugs about the isos, but putting "(MGA6)" on the whiteboard to see that this issue was last seen in Mageia 6

Hi,

Sure, I also didn't imagine the QA team would have let it released if they did hit the issue ;) But it looks like other people on the web did, but no one made a proper bug report..

Also, for now I'm reporting for my brother who did have the issue on real hardware.

-iso came from https://www.mageia.org/fr/downloads/get/?q=Mageia-6-LiveDVD-Xfce-x86_64-DVD.iso

-he did install from start menu, not from live session

-locale was french

-He tried twice: first time erasing all the disk, and second time reusing the previously created home partition, with same result.

No log available yet as he needed to workaround the issue and installed mga5 for now instead. If needed, I can try to reproduce in a VM to confirm again and get some log.

It would be great if you could do that :-)

Having the two requested log files will help to find the cause of the bug.

The reporter didn't find time to add the requested logs, it's two major Mageia releases later and no one commented seeing the same issue more recently. Closing as OLD
