Description of problem:

With the new freetype6 packages from tainted, firefox misrenders text on pages with a lot of visible noise, e.g:

* https://github.com/shlomif/fortune-mod/blob/master/fortune-mod/datfiles/work#L2002

* http://www.shlomifish.org/

Downgrading to the older freetype-2.7.1 fixes the problem. I'll upload some screenshots soon.

Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade to the tainted Cauldron freetype 2.8.1 RPMs.
2. Start firefox on the URLs.

I should note that the same problems happens with the latest firefox 52.3.0 esr version.

That does indeed look bad :-(

Assigning to the registered freetype maintainer, who happens to be you yourself ;-)

I remember how amazed I was about dmorgan maintaining over 1300 packages, and now I'm even more amazed:

Note: the newly released firefox 52.4.0 ESR works fine with this freetype. I'll try to update our own pkg as well.

Works now with the mageia /usr/bin/firefox -v52.4.0. closing.

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => FIXED
