Description Marja Van Waes 2017-08-16 10:53:30 CEST
Please package tlp, as suggested in bug 1758.

TLP brings you the benefits of advanced power management for Linux without the need to understand every technical detail. TLP comes with a default configuration already optimized for battery life, so you may just install and forget it. Nevertheless TLP is highly customizable to fulfil your specific requirements.

Please add tlp to Mageia 6 as well. It is very helpful in optimizing the battery life. Moreover it is a very common feature found in almost all the distros. Would like to see it added to Mageia repos as well.

If tlp gets packaged for cauldron, then this package request can be changed into a request to backport it for Mageia 6
Comment 3 David GEIGER 2017-08-16 17:39:10 CEST
tlp 1.0 now imported on Cauldron!

http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages?view=revision&revision=1141203

So you can test it now and if all is good I can backport it on mga6 too.

I've installed it and at first sight most of it works, but to be able to limit how far a ThinkPad battery can be loaded a dependency seems to be missing.

When running tlp-stat, I see at the bottom:

+++ Suggestions
* Install acpi-call kernel module for ThinkPad battery features

when running

[root@DenkBlok4 marja]# tlp setcharge 70 90 BAT1
Error: ThinkPad battery features not available.
[root@DenkBlok4 marja]#

So the nicest feature of this tool is not available.

I don't understand where that kernel module can be found (if we already have it), CC'ing tmb

Dorry, daviddavid, for not having come back to this report sooner.

the tlp package is fine, we only need to get the tp-smapi and acpi-call kernel modules to use its full functionality.

There's bug 1758 for tp-smapi, acpi-call is mentioned in it, too.
