slrn -h news.individual.de
or 
tin -g news.individual.de -A
it does not work
From the console it works

I don't understand what "Desktop linking" is, but you mention you have konsole-16.12.3, so it must be something from Plasma5.

Assigning to the KDE maintainers, who'll understand better :-)

Desktop linking, Desktop shortcut is a Programstarter on the desktop.

Thanks for the explanation.

The summary of this bug report gives the impression no desktop program starters work at all. When you create program starters for e.g. "top" and for "ping news.individual.de", do they also not work?

Btw, which package provides tin?

The consoles newsreaders are not from the packet sources.
The two programs are from
Http://www.tin.org/ and http://slrn.sourceforge.net/
Other program starters are working. Mozilla Firefox and others.
But in mageia-5 also work slrn and tin on desktop.
Ok, I contact the maintainer.

I wonder if this is the same issue I vaguely recall seeing being discussed on the QA discuss list.  Something about desktop icons not working if they're created as a copy, but working if they're created as a link.

I do not understand that.

Right-click the desktop, create new, link to program.

Try enclosing the command in quotes when creating the launcher, e.g.:
"slrn -h news.individual.de"

Then it is a peculiarity of mageia 6, no bug.
In mageia-5 this is not necessary.
