High After update (distro or mageia-xfce-config pkg) one should remove config directories under $HOME to really apply all new default settings. It's stated also in README.update.urpmi in mageia-xfce-config pkg [1]. Default background image type was changed from .jpg to .png during the mga6 dev cycle. That's not the only major change as default Xfce theme was also changed. I can add a compatibility symlink which handles background image type change, but we can't handle default theme change without one removing configs first. Note that all this only happens if one hasn't changed the default background or theme settings. We have never tried to alter one's custom/modified settings and we apply the default settings only at first boot or if needed/wanted config directories or files aren't available under $HOME. [1] http://gitweb.mageia.org/software/desktop/xfce/config/tree/README.update.urpmi events have made this obselete Status:
