Description mnaud mnaud 2011-07-09 13:55:49 CEST
am using qemu to try some installation on virtual machine and regulary my host machine is totally frozen, i have to do an hard reboot.

[root@darkvador ~]# cat /etc/mageia-release
Mageia release 1 (Official) for i586

[root@darkvador ~]# rpm -qa | grep -E "kernel|qemu"
kernel-server-latest-2.6.38.7-1.mga1
qemu-0.14.0-5.mga1
qemu-img-0.14.0-5.mga1
kernel-server-devel-latest-2.6.38.7-1.mga1
kernel-server-2.6.38.7-1.mga-1-1.mga1
kernel-firmware-20110314-2.mga1
kernel-server-devel-2.6.38.7-1.mga-1-1.mga1

[root@darkvador ~]# uname -a
Linux X.Y.org 2.6.38.7-server-1.mga #1 SMP Sun May 22 13:31:43 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

example of step to reproduce :
- launch qemu to try (for example) mandriva 2011RC1
- qemu-kvm -m 800 -smp 2 -hda /mnt/data/disk_vm/mandriva_2011_rc.qcow2 -cdrom /mnt/data/cd_isos/mandrake/Mandriva.2011-rc1.i586.iso -boot d
- install the product
- after a while depending of ... (i don't know what) the host pc is frozen.

this seem to happen more often when the guest machine switch between text mode and gaphic mode (X11)

no specifics logs have been found on guest or host.

may be a qemu update to 0.14.1 will solve the trouble ?

This message is a reminder that Mageia 1 is nearing its end of life.
In approximately 25 days from now, Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing
updates for Mageia 1. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it
remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '1'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to
fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later
Mageia version prior to Mageia 1's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not
be able to fix it before Mageia 1 is end of life. If you would still like to see
this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia,
you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version
of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime,
sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia
release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 1 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''1st December''. Mageia 1 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
