Description Len Lawrence 2017-04-17 21:41:41 CEST
Description of problem:
Using the playlist format xspf for terrestrial TV channels no longer works with the version of vlc supplied with Cauldron; in fact it does not seem to be aware of dvb devices. Running the command which works in mga5
$ vlc channels.xspf
always produces the response "Playlist is empty". kaffeine can be configured to use the dvb tuner and finds a couple of hundred TV and radio channels, so there is nothing wrong with the hardware.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
vlc-3.0.0-0.git.12.mga6

How reproducible:
All the time. It is a regression from the version of vlc supplied with mga5.
I used the PCTv USB stick with Sony CXD2820R on board - firmware already available. If anybody needs it and has access to the UK TV stations then I can supply the playlist.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Cauldron Plasma from Mageia-6-rc-x86_64-DVD
2. $ w_scan -ft -c GB -L > channels.xspf
   Adjust the country code to suit. The -L generates the XML output.
3. $ vlc channels.xspf
   Erstwhile this succeeded in establishing a playlist for all the TV channels included but now the playlist will be empty.
