Description Deri James 2017-03-21 01:15:14 CET
Description of problem:

Mygica T230 (dvb-t2 usb stick) stops working - kernel oops

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Started with first 4.9 series kernel.

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Plug in Mygica T230 (alias August 210) usb stick after boot.
2.
3.

This is unlikely to be a "Mageia" only bug, there are numerous mentions on the internet of problems with dvb-usb with 4.9 series kernels. However, since Mageia 6 will include a 4.9 kernel, it may make sense to have an optional 4.4.50 kernel which could be installed, with an entry in the Errata.

Incidentally, if I do a local media_build using:-

git clone https://bitbucket.org/CrazyCat/media_build
./build
make install

The 4.9.16 kernel starts working properly, so if these patches get accepted upstream sometime I assume mageia kernels will start working as well.

The last cauldron kernel I can confirm was working is 4.8.15-desktop-1.

Nowadays we have the 5.15 kernel series in Mageia 8 (5.16 and 5.17 in backports...).

Closing OLD.
