Description of problem:
Dell xps13-9360 with hdmi dongle ( which has worked well in may situations).
cauldron updated Feb 25.

I plugged in an hdmi projector here in Sendai before giving a talk. Bot the laptop screen and the projector screen showed black which meant I could do nothing. The laptop screen reappeared when the hdmi was disconnected. Fortunately when I plugged in a vga dongle, the projector screen showed although the laptop screen was still black so I could use the SystemSetting->Display to set up so both screen showed.
I suspect if I could have adjusted the display I could have gotten the hdmi to work, but it was impossible because of the black screens.

This seems to be a problem with the auto setup now being done.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable

How reproducible: Tried it three times. did same thing.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot computer, enter into KDE Plasma.
2.Plug in hdmi projector.
3.stare at all screens black.

OK, another external display. Both hdmi and vga work, but the desktop disappears to black. The open windows remain but all of the desktop icons etc disppear. If I unplug the hdmi or vga connections, the desktop reappears on the laptop screen, and as soon as either is plugged in, the desktop disappears.
The resolution of the external display is less than my laptop screen, which might have something to do with it.

Please reproduce the issue and then, before rebooting, as root run:

   journalctl -ab > journal.txt

and attach journal.txt to this bug report

I have nt yet been able to get a the external projector to try it out again.
It was in a large lecture hall at a foreign University. I will see if it is possible.:

I have moved out of the country where this occurred, so no bug trace of confirmation will be possible. This should prob be closed.

Closing as OLD, because without logs (and probably also without more information that I didn't think of asking, like video card + driver), there is nothing we can do and no way to find out which package is to blame.

@ anyone who hits this issue:

Please reopen this report :-)
