Description w unruh 2016-12-20 00:51:01 CET
Description of problem: I have an XPS13 9360 Dell laptop. It has a USB-c/thunderbolt port for extensions like extra monitors for example for screen projectors. Using at least some usbc-VGA adapters, a signal comes out and is displayed. Unfortunately it is a 1920x1080 resolution signal and most beamers do not show that (Mine just shows the top left part of the screen cutting off the bottom and right side).
When that projector is plugged in, xrandr shows just one screen, as does SsystemSettings=>Display. And it furthermore claims that that display is only 1920x1080 min and max. Nothing of the external display is shown.

To compare Windows fits the screen onto the beamer screen so that nothing is cut off. Furthermore windows shows a variety of possible resolutions. I say this just to indicate that this is not a hardware problem.
