Description Kristoffer Grundström 2016-12-04 15:03:13 CET
Description of problem: I paired my phone with my computer to Bluuetooth and then I picked up my phone to send some files to the computer, but I never got any prompt asking me to accept the transfer.

If I open a terminal and check dmesg for a reason that might've caused this I see:

[ 9.937716] bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for intel/ibt-hw-37.7.10-fw-1.80.2.3.d.bseq failed with error -2
[ 9.942058] bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for intel/ibt-hw-37.7.bseq failed with error -2

Now I went to the terminal windows to check if we have a mate package for bluetooth and urpmq -y mate-bluetooth gave me no hit.

I went to the Bluetooth wiki for MATE to see if the problem has been reported upstream yet and on that page at the very bottom of http://wiki.mate-desktop.org/docs:mate-bluetooth you'll see this message:

"I don't see how to receive files over Bluetooth on my computer in mate-bluetooth, am I blind?

File reception is not implemented in mate-bluetooth, but in mate-user-share, so you have to install this application to be able to receive files over Bluetooth."

The package mate-user-share wasn't even installed as standard even thou I see a bluetooth icon in the MATE panel.

I don't have any Testing or Backport-medias added or used and I'm fully up to date.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.14.0

How reproducible: All the time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login to MATE.
2. Pair your phone to the computer.
3. Try to send some files FROM your phone TO the computer.
4. It will fail as fast as it starts and no explanation as to why.

mate-bluetooth no longer exists, and mate-user-share is not intended for bluetooth, see the _description_ of

mate-user-share-1.14.0-1.mga6:

> Description :
> This program enables user to share directories through Webdav.

> This package does not provide bluetooth support. Use a generic
> tool to get bluetooth support.

So, what's causing MATE to refuse to accept the file?

I don't have the slightest idea. I hope a smart packager can help.

Hi. Kristoffer, which bluetooth client are you using on Mate? There is no mate-bluetooth (see: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_5_Errata#Mate) Do you mind to try with Blueman?
