Description andre salaun 2016-11-01 19:41:58 CET
Description of problem:
tun0 interface is created but does not work

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

For example you can test it with openbar vpn of fdn :
 https://wiki-adh.fdn.fr/travaux:vpn_misc:doc

Steps to Reproduce:
1. urpmi openvpn
2. copy the script https://wiki-adh.fdn.fr/travaux:vpn_misc:doc:openvpn:config, name it.
3. launch it with whatever you want as password and id

The tunel is created but external ip adress does not change.

With Ubuntu/Lubuntu etc. it works fine and immediatly.

With others VPN (commercial one) it seems to be the same problem. I whish some others users will explain that here...

I try in UDP mode, same trouble.

Tun0 does not obtain ip address. If I try to "force" connection tun0 in drakconnectI have this message :
write UDPv4: Network is unreachable
(code=101)

Ubunutu 16-10, Ubuntu 16-04, Debian stretch and Manjaro work fine with the fdn script.

Maybe someone can test with networkmanager ?

It is a drakconnect problem. We have to use networkmanager.

This is the solution :

# urpmi networkmanager
# draconnect
configure once more time the internet connection whithout changing anything. Finally authorize NetworkManager to manage connection and, in vpn line choose openvpn, confirm and close.

Now tun0 obtains an ip adress and openvpn works. I hope it will be the same with others vpn services.

Perhaps move this report to drakconnect ? Or report it in errata ?

Hi André,

Thank you for having taken the needed time to report this issue!

Did this bug get fixed? If so, please change its status to RESOLVED - FIXED

If it didn't, then we regret that we weren't able to fix it in Mageia 5. Mageia 5 has officially reached its End of Life on December 31st, 2017 https://blog.mageia.org/en/2017/11/07/mageia-5-eol-postponed/
It only continued to get important security updates since then, because we were waiting for the big Plasma5 update in Mageia 6, that fixed many of the Mageia 5 => 6 upgrade issues.

If you haven't seen that this bug got fixed, then please check whether this bug still exists in Mageia 6. If it does, then please change the Version (near the top, at the left) to "6". If you know it exists in Cauldron, then change Version to Cauldron. If you see it in both Cauldron and Mageia 6, then please set Version to Cauldron and add MGA6TOO on the Whiteboard.

Thanks,
Marja

@ André

You didn't reply, so I'm closing this report as OLD (because Mga5 is no longer supported)

_Please_ reopen it if the same issue still exists in Mageia 6 and/or later.
